The design of Devin Booker’s Nike BOOK 1 draws inspiration from the Air Force 1, Blazer, and Air Jordan 1.

What Devin Booker places around himself is largely a reflection of who he is. His taste in architecture and interior design, restored and internally modernized classic cars, and even his sneakers tells the story of a 26-year-old who is an old soul at heart.
His debut signature shoe with Nike, the BOOK 1, blends the timelessness of past icons with a performance core fit for today’s elite level athletes. When Sneaker News revealed a first look back in July, it was immediately understood that Devin wanted to honor the history of Nike Basketball by infusing elements of the air Force 1, Blazer, and Air Jordan 1. The cushioning package, however isn’t from the 1980’s. Instead, it features an all-new Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole with a rigid TPU midsole wall, and a top-loaded Zoom Air bag at the heel.
The overall design and execution was heavily inspired by his ’72 Chevy Blazer K5, one of his favorite cars of his curated fleet. Nicknamed “Uncle Larry”, this car is completely restored on the exterior, but has its engine swapped with a more modern high-performance engine.
The materials chosen for the Book 1 also reflect Devin’s utility-focused choice in casual apparel. The canvas, twill, genuine leather, and textured suede reflect his penchant for workwear-style clothing. Our favorite detail is the lace-loop; the layered white loops are inspired by the spine of a book where all the pages converge.
Due to the lifestyle sensibility of the shoe, the Book 1 is quite versatile in terms of off-the-court execution. Expect to see Nike get rather creative with the model by further implementing some of Devin’s favorites into the sneaker.
The Nike Book 1 signature shoe is slated to arrive this Spring 2024 season in four colorways.
