It’s clear that Nike’s design direction for Drake’s NOCTA sub-label relies on a formulaic combinatino of an obscure 90s shoe with modern touches. It’s been a fairly impressive approach thus far as we’ve seen the Nike NOCTA Hot Step find appeal among the “downtown” crowd, while rumors of an Air Zoom Drive collaboration for Holiday 2023 continues to generate buzz.
However, the most attention-capturing silhouette thus far is this: the Nike NOCTA Glide. Drawing inspiration from the Zoom Flight 95 basketball shoe, this upcoming release sees the signature “bug-eyed” midsole, ample usage of lightweight carbon fiber, and a mid-cut height made for casual wear. We first spotted the shoes on Drake’s feet when he was sitting courtside at — where else — a Raptors game, but now we’re getting the closest look courtesy of @theshoegame.
While we’ve seen this OG black/white colorway circulate the most (there are several colorways already in the works), this up-close view reveals the NOCTA Glide in all its glory. There’s no denying the eye-catching appeal of the midsole, but the added eyelets with NIKE branding and the translucent outsole add some fresh elements to this all-time-great hoops model.
Currently, these are expected to release in June for $160. And with the NOCTA Hot Step nearing the end of its circulation for now, the NOCTA Glide is primed to take over as the chief silhouette. Stay tuned for more updates.
